Another great, uneventful day is in the books. David weaned off another one of his IV meds which was replaced with an oral medication. His ventilator was weaned from BiPAP to CPAP settings. He had another chest x-ray this morning, which again showed improvement, and he had an echo to check on his stent placement. We have not heard back about the echo results. David’s heart rate is still on the high end, but it’s being monitored. He also still seems to be experiencing discomfort from gas, but otherwise, he’s doing well. He startles himself when he sneezes, coughs, or gets hiccups. At one point while he was napping, he pulled out his nasal cannula. His nurse watched him closely for several minutes with it out, and he seemed very happy, his heart rate dropped down into a more reasonable range, and his oxygen saturation remained good. She called the nurse practitioner to ask permission to leave it out going forward, but permission was denied. There’s always tomorrow. We’ll continue working toward that goal.

  1. Prayers for both parents today that you get enough rest. You are so busy giving to your children like parents do, but don’t forget to take care of yourselves. 🙂 thank you for all of your daily updates. David looks so content in the picture today. He’s so precious!
