Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Not that we did much to celebrate – Eli wore his Christmas sweater. Anna wore her Thanksgiving shirt yesterday, so we’re on a roll with the times.
David had a nice relaxing day. He seemed comfortable and just got a day of rest. He really needed it, as I think he rarely gets one. He also started peeing more, so hopefully the fluid keeps coming off. His right leg almost looks normal again! OT came by and he did well for them as well. David was also being paced yesterday, but overnight his heart rate returned to a more normal rate, so they could unplug him from that.
Tomorrow they will examine his chest and see if they can close it up, but at the very least switch out his wound vac. His PICC line has also moved a bit, so that will be fixed tomorrow as well. It’s hopeful that they will be able to fix it at bedside, but it really depends on who is going to fix it – vascular or IR. So, he may need to take a field trip tomorrow if it can’t be done at bedside. This evening David has been a little fussy, so they will increase his sedation.
As for Eli and Anna, they spent the day at the hospital. We arrived while the team was rounding on David, so we stood in the hall and listened as long as the kids allowed before Anna needed to find a bathroom. The morning was spent at the Endzone where they played with some sports equipment and then made some St. Patrick’s Day lego patterns before moving on to toys. This afternoon they spent a couple hours outside before finally getting cold and returning to the Endzone where they did more St. Patrick’s Day crafts. I had decided they could skip their naps today and would hopefully fall asleep easily – they were both asleep shortly after we left at 5, and then went down fairly easily after we got home and got ready for bed. Hopefully they sleep well through the night now!
I’m happy that David had a nice relaxing day and pray today goes as well 🙏🏻
How nice that David had a restful day – for you also. The Legos look great, nice job by Eli and Anna. Praying his procedures go well today.
Glad kids all got rest yesterday, and I hope you parents did too. Hope today goes well for David. We’ll keep praying for everyone involved… there are certainly a lot of people on his care team! Including his wonderful family. ❤️
I think it is rather amazing that your kids are so in the groove with the whole over whelming( as it seems to me to be) of the hospital to home and back and forth. I always thought kids need alot of structure in their routine. But your two seem to go with the flow very well. Your parenting skills due you credit J & A!!! Love to all, and of course I’ll keep praying 🙏.
