Today was just a fun day for being in the ICU – lots of laughs and lots of smiles. Itβs super nice when everyone seems to enjoy their job and they all work together so beautifully.
There were not many changes today for David. A slight increase in his feeds – 1 ml every 12 hours. He should be up to 4 ml tonight now. He had an echo which he hated, and they were able to start giving him aspirin again. David also got more time on RAM instead of SCUBA. He was able to enjoy his RAM for 6 hours before going back on SCUBA for 2 hours, and then alternating between the two every 2 hours. Overnight though, he should be exclusively on SCUBA. He’s getting more agitated on SCUBA – especially as it fogs up and rains down on him. It’s the only way though to ensure he gets the added lung support he needs to get his lungs open. If he closed his mouth or took his pacifier more that would help with the RAM, but that’s not in his nature at the moment.
David got some exercise time when OT visited today. They always teach him new tricks with his hands so he can get into trouble later. Sometimes he likes them and sometimes not. OT would also like him to start sitting in his chair at least twice a day. This will also help his lungs open up.
After OT left and David got some respiratory therapy, he then got some cuddle time with mom. During his cuddle time it was time to play trivia. It turns out David was well prepared for the theme this week – Storybook Characters. He didn’t miss a single question and was the WINNER! He was having so much fun, and everyone wanted to get in on the action – his nurse helped him with a few questions, and we heard the NP call out an answer from the desk pod in the hall. Perhaps he got a little too rambunctious playing, but he had fun and earned a new toy that lights up and makes noise and will hopefully distract him while he’s diving.
As for the older kids, we may have found a way to entice Eli to enjoy the hospital again, but we’ll see if it continues to work. He was happy to be there and ate a good dinner before heading down to the Endzone where they played with Magnatiles.
Tomorrow the team decided to wear pink, so hopefully David enjoys the pink items I have picked out for him.
David is certainly becoming a trivia pro! Love seeing your smile during cuddle time π
Way to go Davidπ₯³ You had a great day with so much progressππ» I pray that you will soon be off of scuba, even though you make it look like fun, from your mom’s explanation I can certainly understand why you don’t like it π I’m so thrilled that you had more cuddle time with Mom and that you were the WINNER π at Trivia ππ» Sweet dreams and God bless you always ππ»
Glad to see David has some fun! All that hospital routine can’t be when he is getting older and wants to learn new stuff in his world. He must get a little bit bored as he seems very intelligent and probably curious about stuff outside of his crib. Glad to hear everything is moving in the right direction. Love and kisses to all.
