I don’t want to speak too soon, but it was a fairly uneventful day. Overnight, David missed his friends and invited everyone into his room to check out his arrhythmia. It turned out the solution was to just unplug him from the pacer.
He was fairly calm today – definitely showing emotion when he does not like something. He tries to cry when his lungs are suctioned – but he has a lot of secretions in them. He opens his eyes more, but he doesn’t really seem to be there at the moment when they are open. David does seem to respond to voices though. It makes it harder to leave his side unless he’s sleeping. David also moves his right side a lot. His left side has movement but only a tiny amount. It has been something I’ve noticed for several days now, and hoped it was just my mind, but his nurse also voiced the same concern this morning. Tomorrow he will have a CT scan to see what sort of brain injury he may have from his cardiac arrests. Eventually he’ll have an MRI for better imaging, but that will wait until he’s in a much better position to handle it. David played Harry Potter trivia today. Well, his parents got a little too eager and answered a couple questions without fully reading the answers because the faster you answer the more points you get. In the end, David got second place. So, he got some new books for his collection. David also got a nice sponge bath today. I got to lift him up so they could reposition his blankets and swaddle underneath him. Soon we’ll be able to hold him again, but the lift is a good first step. David and I also got some story time in – I need to find a time to make it down to the family resource center to get us more options (or bring more from home). Finally, they tried the bed scale again this morning, and once again it gave a weight of 7.3 kg (16 lbs). So, they brought in an infant scale and tried that instead. That showed 6.6kg or 14.5 lbs. This puts him at the 27.8%-tile instead. It seems much more reasonable. They seemed to like that result better, so that’s what they are going to use now. David has also been peeing fairly well to drop some of his extra fluid as well.
Why does it not surprise me that David is a Harry Potter fan 💕
Hallelujah 🙏🏻 rejoicing joyously for such a wonderful day that David has had 🙏🏻❤️ He must have really enjoyed having Mama lifting him today ❤️ I’m sure that not being able to snuggle and cuddle him is extremely trying to say the least…. Soon very very soon he will be snuggling with his mommy and daddy and brother and sister ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Praying for David, his medical team, and all of you, his dear family, during this transition time as he starts to wake up. Especially asking God to help David with all the things he is adjusting to, for you as you deal with any of these changes, and for the CT scan to give some clarity. Love that you can get closer to holding him ❤️ And that he can hear you better now as he is more alert, with your reading the stories and speaking to him. I’m sure that knowing you are near is a comfort for him.
Following your posts daily and grateful he has had a quiet day. Praying and sending ❤️
