Today was a pretty good day. For the most part, David was happy but also shared his displeasure when being pushed to do things he did not want to do. When I arrived, David was asleep in his wagon – his nurse clearly knows what makes him happy! Once he woke up, he hung out in his wagon some more and played with a couple toys before it was time for a helmet break at which point David also got his bath. He really does not enjoy those baths, but he looks and smells so good once they are done. We cuddled for a little bit after his bath, and ultimately, he ended up in his mama roo where he fell asleep.
When he woke up, he returned to his bed for a dance party. David really likes the Goldfish song by Laurie Berkner. After a while though, he became upset with me, since dance parties mean he has to sit up and do a lot of moving, which is a lot of exercise and work. He finally calmed once he went to his mama roo again, and now we read some stories.
Meanwhile, Eli and Anna went to Anna’s gymnastics class in the morning before ending up at Farm City Days, which is put on by Chisago’s FFA (Future Farmers of America) students at the high school. They had a blast there – sitting on tractors, petting farm animals, planting some flowers, coloring, playing bingo, and eating lunch. There is probably more that they did, but riding tractors is always the highlight of Eli’s day.
The older kids arrived, right as David was starting his field trip out of the room. We were heading outside, when we ran into them getting off the elevator, so we all went down to the Endzone together. David had a blast down there watching and playing with his siblings. Eli and Anna started off by making a water tornado before the rest of the time was spent honing our music abilities. David was originally going to play a piano, but Eli found another piano and thought Anna needed to play guitar and David could play the drums. David’s eyes lit up and he had huge smiles while he was playing music with them.
Other changes for David today included resuming his feeds. He is receiving a nominal amount, but it’s a start. Tomorrow his aspirin will be resumed. It sounded like GI does want to do a small endoscope to check for polyps, which his team is hoping to get scheduled for Monday or Tuesday while David still only has a small amount of anticoagulation in his system. It will not be a full one, just a little one to make sure everything that is safe to check has been checked. Otherwise, David had a great day today, which was full of smiles – especially on his adventure out of the room and toward his siblings.
I’m so happy that you all had a great dayππ»ππ»ππ»ππ»ππ»
