David had another good day! Overnight he had some small swings in his blood pressure but overall he was happy. He wasn't peeing as much as they would like overnight but after hearing that while the doctors and nurses did their rounds he started to pee more. However they would like to increase it a … Continue reading February 28, 2024

David had a pretty good day. He really likes his new shunt and he’s become like a new person with it. One of the cardiothoracic surgeons who has been in the operating room for all of David’s surgeries was super excited when he stopped by. He could not believe the improvement since last night. There … Continue reading February 27, 2024
February 26, 2024 – Update 2
David went back to the OR at 3:30. His surgeon speculated that it could take an hour if David was able to come off of ECMO and needed nothing else, or else 3-4 hours if he needed the central shunt. I eventually left Adam at the hospital around 9:30 because I had a few things … Continue reading February 26, 2024 – Update 2
February 26, 2024 – Update 1
Not much to say so far. David received a bronch this morning and it seemed to clear out his lungs a little bit. Neurology has not seen any seizure activity so far. Around 3:30, David was taken back to the operating room to attempt ECMO decannulation. It sounds like, David still was not able to … Continue reading February 26, 2024 – Update 1

Today was an okay day. We started and ended pretty much in the same place, yet there were lots of procedures in the middle. David’s chest X-ray this morning showed improvement on his right lung, but his left lung remained unchanged. His pulmonologist is taking credit for the right lung. She was back to give … Continue reading February 25, 2024

David had quite an exciting overnight, and then he's been resting since. Since Adam spends the night with David, this is what he detailed. At around 9:30pm his nurse noticed a puddle of blood on his bedding. He changed David's bedding and then found it was still bleeding and not left over from earlier in … Continue reading February 24, 2024
February 23, 2024 – Update 4
We apparently got a slightly different story from the nurses versus the doctors who did David's procedure. So this is what we know about how David's day went (to the best of my memory)... When David arrived in the cath lab, his oxygen saturations were in the 50s. He ended up not getting the bronchoscopy … Continue reading February 23, 2024 – Update 4
February 23, 2024 – Update 3
We just got word that David is back on ECMO. The shunt and pulmonary arteries all looked good. We're not really sure what this means for moving forward. The EEG will be reattached when he comes back as well.
February 23, 2024 – Update 2
David left for the cath lab at around 1:30. Before he left, his nurse inked us up. In the cath lab, David will first receive a bronchoscopy to hopefully open up his airways. He still has collapsed areas in each of his lungs, so this should hopefully help with that. After that, the cath will … Continue reading February 23, 2024 – Update 2
February 23, 2024 – Update 1
David's chest has been closed up. His oxygen saturations are very low. They have tried doing a bunch of troubleshooting including another bronchoscopy. They do not see what is causing these low saturations, so he's going to go to the cath lab for further investigation. update: bronch will happen in the cath lab. Currently prepping … Continue reading February 23, 2024 – Update 1
