David has had an up and down day. Overall, I think he's still in pretty good shape, but he has definitely not given his nurse a lot of down time today (or ever really). David's big goals of the day were to continue to work on getting his lungs opened up, diurese him (lose some … Continue reading February 22, 2024

So, there are certain words we don't use around David anymore, and no one trusts him either. He likes to prove everyone wrong, both good and bad. We are one week post-surgery today, and we made steps in the right direction - David is off ECMO! He's maintaining all on his own his blood pressure, … Continue reading February 21, 2024

We'll take the wins where we can get them, and today we had some small wins. David continued to have seizures last night. After adding a third seizure medication, they have not noticed any more since 11 PM last night. All the seizure activity has been isolated to the area where there is blood in … Continue reading February 20, 2024

Today has felt like getting kicked over and over again. Honestly, this is how we anticipated David’s first hospital stay going, but things kept getting better by the day. After knowing David would be getting the Norwood those fears returned, and so far it seems as if something can go wrong, it will. Overnight things … Continue reading February 19, 2024

Today was exactly what we wanted for David - a day of rest. He is starting to build a tolerance to the sedatives it seems. If he so much as moves his fingers or toes, his blood pressure becomes hypotensive, so they have adjusted those to make sure he is calm. Yesterday, he would go … Continue reading February 18, 2024

First off, thank you to everyone who has lifted David up in prayer and love. Here's what we know at the moment. David will be on ECMO for at least 48 hours. This is giving his heart and lungs a rest and allowing the machine to support him. It was helpful that his chest was … Continue reading February 17, 2024

Not the update I wanted to make today. David was unstable and crashed - code blue was called. He’s currently on the highest form of life support ECMO. Will take all prayers and support for him at this time.

The doctors were pleased as they came by this morning that David was starting the day better off than he did yesterday. He was apparently very purple yesterday, by the time I arrived yesterday, his color was very blotchy with large areas of purple, but not completely purple. Luckily his color has continued to improve. … Continue reading February 16, 2024

David looks much better now than when we arrived, but he's still in the very critical period. His coloring looks almost normal. I don't believe he is any worse in any area than he was this morning, and in some areas there has been a little improvement, so the doctors took the small gains as … Continue reading February 15, 2024 – PM Update

David is still in a very critical state. He’s been all over the place and has been hard to control. At this moment, he has 2 dedicated nurses, and a third nurse helping out. The doctor was honest and said she didn’t like how he looked this morning but is hopeful he will look better … Continue reading February 15, 2024
